410s in a automatic ?

RE: 410s in a automatic ?
Converter stall speed is kind of like a supercharger, you don’t really notice it unless you get on it. A 3000 stall converter will drive almost like stock, it will be a little looser but hardly noticeable with normal part throttle driving. When you stomp the throttle it will flash to 3000 or more RPM and you will launch as if you had a manual and dumped the clutch at 3000. A high stall converter is one of the absolute best performance mods you can do for an automatic.

N/A = 4.10s.
Blown = 4.10s w/taller tires.
Rain? Slow Down.
Calculate mileage and RPMS (gear change ONLY) using this:
3.35/4.10=81.7%
2,000RPM on stock 3.35s would be 2,447RPM w/4.10s (2000/.817=2447)
18MPG stock 3.35s= 14.7MPG with 4.10s
edit: oops

So, will you lose some mpg. Is this just going to be with highway driving or altogether?

No, I agree not all of these shops and people are giving me the wrong answers, but with certain questions there is contradiction. and No, I'm not looking for someone to tell me what I want to hear.this is the question....
Whats the best gear for an Auto 06 Stang GT??
1.Car is daily Driver, including possible bad weather road conditions
2. Car goes to the track
4. Not worried about MPG, only performance
3. I don't want to out gear the car, whichseems to drawthe biggest contraversy
I have had shops tell me that with 4.10s I will out gear the car by 3rd gear, and otherstell me I won't. I have had shops tell me that drivabilty in bad weather conditions with 4.10s will be bad while others said No. I have shops tell me that my stock size tires, which by the way are 27.3, will be fine with 4.10s while other shops say I needa 28" tire to really make it work, or I have been told unless I go to a taller tire, to just leave my stock gears in. and the contradiction continues.....

If it was me trying to answer your question, I would say 4.30s. It sounds like you are very concerned about performance. The lower the gearing (higher numbers) will yield more torque and get you off the line quicker. You said mileage doesn't matter so I throw that one out of the equation. As far as bad weather, of course a car that has more torque/hp will spin easier off the line. As mentioned already, the answer is to go easier on the gas.
Here is a link to a site with many calculators. Backup 1 level for others but this is a calculator to help figure out gearing. http://www.wallaceracing.com/calcrgr.phpIf you plug in 6200 RPMs with 27" tires and figuring you won't be over 115MPH for sure, 4.30s will not run out. Using the ET calculator, using a weight of 3700lbs (car+driver = may be different) and 300rwhp an expected ET of 13.6 at 98mph. Plugging 98mph in as a max would allow you to run up to 5.08:1 gears before you hit a redline of 6200rpm in the 1/4 mile. -Joe

RE: 410s in a automatic ?
Thanks jbailerfor the tech info, I also have been using Motive gears chart as well. http://www.motivegear.com/pages/charts/charts.htm. For now I'm going to hold off on gears anyway until, I get a few more mods done. I fiqure the best direction to go is finish up with all the modsI want to do, then throw gears and a TQ converter in last.

If you are going to stay NA I would go with 4.10’s, if you are going FI in the future I would go with 3.73’s. I have 3.73 and really like them NA but I went with them because I am adding TT’s this month.

TheShelby HertzGTH is an Auto and comes with 3.55
If you are going to Turbo or Supercharge 3.73 - 3.90 MAX
NA 4.10 all the Way, It will wake up the Auto GT and add almost 6 or 7/10ths in the 1/2
I have BFG GForce TA 275/40 ZR18 and run about 21 MPG Average and 3000RPM at 80 MPH
Acceptable losses but HUGE Gains. Top end not affected much (see Image)

And I still had more room to go RPM Wse,but I was running out of road.
