Default Income Tax Mods Need some Help Please

Well it's soon that nice time of the year for ole Uncle Sam to give me back the extra I gave him all year. So in anticipation of this most joyous event I have compiled a list of mods, and was wondering if anyone here could give some insight as to some installation issues or answer some questions about installs that I might have to look at before I dump alot of bones on somethign I'll just have to buy more parts for or do more work than I'm capable of here at the house, therefore have to pay a Mechanic to do for me. So in short here is the list and my questions.

#1 - the BBK CAI with the SCT Tuner from Brenspeed, I've read alot of good things and this seems straight forward I think I can handle this!!

#2 - BBK Shorty Headers - Will I need to lift or pull the engine to put these on or can I do it without that hassle (Can't be performed at home if I have to lift or pull)

#3 - The All ellusive Aluminum Drive Shaft - are they worth the Money and are they reliable? A nice fellow from MD contacted me about the ones he makes from Ranger Shafts, he cuts them and has them rebalanced, also includes all the hardware, at a cost of just over 500.

Also the CAI and tuner are most likely a 100% go, however I wanted to know will I need a new tune on top of the new tunes I get with the package, if I get the Headers a short time after?

Thanks in advance for anyone's assistance in this matter!

Vack

I will tell you something for sure on #2

Do not get the shortys, they are a waste of money. If you are going to invest in headers, go long tubes. They are way much better than shortys.

As with the CAI + Tune... well you really cant go wrong with this one, is a MUST in our mustangs and an easy 15+ rwhp

The only thing I can tell you about Aluminum Driveshaft is that they ARE reliable and free up some HP. Although they are expensive, I think you should better invest in gears.

As for re-tuning with the header swap, I dont think is an issue, but if you get your CAI + Tune through brenspeed, you should get the headers through brenspeed also, and he will send you free tunes!

I agree get the BMR one piece driveshaft good to 1000 hp. The CAI with tune is great and the headers can be done at home but are a bitc% to get done and block off many hrs if you intend on doing it! You don't need a lift but the stock headers are good unless you get the LT than you will see some increase in HP...instead of the headers I would get the rear suspension built up with a panhard bar and some adj LCA's , from what I have read here mostly by CrazyAl the rear will need to be adj when you get the driveshaft. Do a search and there is alot of info from him on here... Props to Crazy AL!!!!!!!![sm=goodidea.gif][sm=icon_ladiesman.gif]

thanks for the info, I'll look around for Crazyal, I didn't think I read you really had to adjust anything with the Shaft i was lookign at, I'll double check and read it again, I think the guy with the ones I looked at sent you all the necessary stuff to do it with.........

This following is an excert from his email to me. I'm very interested in his product and maybe instead of the headers I'll go with the shaft. As I don't want to change the rear gears unless I have to......I don't race, I'm not that interested in it, at least until my waranty is up, and or it's paid off.

the only thing required to do is change out the stock companion flange(pinion yoke)for the ranger style flange which i always include along with the new bolts. this is not difficult but may require the use of a gear puller which can be rented at most auto stores for a few dollars. the whole installation usually takes less than an hour but that of course will depend on experience and type of tools used. He sent me pics too, th eitem looks very good.

So I found a local speed shop today, and I ventured on in with the same questions that I had here. The owner of the shops wants to sell me a Super Chips tuner. This tuner is quite a bit more $$ than the SCT. Does anyone have any information on this part, is it any good and or is it worth the money compared to the SCT. According to this board, brenspeed and other places I've read the SCT is pretty good at a decent price.

I would reccomend sticking with SCT as a tuner. Diablos are okay too, but you can find people to work with an SCT anywhere. I don't know anything about the Superchips and can't say bad about it, but as far as tuner knowledge and availability SCT is the way to go. As far as headers go unless your worried about emissions violations in your state don't bother with shorties. They aren't worth the headache
