Default Audio???

I own a 05 Mustang GT and want to upgrade the door and rear deck speakers. Selection seems limited, any suggestions?

Actually, the selection for the 4 5x7/6x8's is rather good. You can get anything from Alpine to B.A. . I replaced mine with Infinity Reference 6812's and the sound is excellent.

Did you use a 2-way; 3 way or what? Total watts ? ; doors ???

Hey Bill,
Here is the link to the rears I put in...

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-nfBIcYk...mp;I=1086827CF

Out of fairness, I replaced the head unit at the same time with an Alpine unit, so the improvement is huge.....

I did not change the door speakers or the subs, and for me, the system now sounds awesome.

The rear deck replacement on my 05 was a cakewalk (except getting my fat hands between the window and the rearspeaker screws...) because the 05 has grills in the back deck that just pop off.....I don't think you have exposed grills do you? Or did that change in 07?? That replacement is a bit more involved from what I understand....

I do not need navigation, or DVD, just wanted some improved sound and bass response from the subs, and got just what I was looking for. I had no idea the skipper 500 was as bad as it was.....[8D][8D]

Let me know if you need any further info...

Mike

Mike,

Thanks for the info on the Infinity speakers. Just put some in my wife's Chrysler and they made a huge difference. Was thinking about putting them in the Mustang. Which Alpine head unit did you get?

Thanks

Rusty : )

Hey Rusty,
No problem. This is the Head Unit I went with....

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-EqVnNt7...p;I=500CDA9820

Before the switch, I was using an XM RoadyXT thru an FM modulation unit. This head unit has the XM built in (no external black box) and sounds absolutely incredible.....XM now actually sounds digital....

Here's a pic of the final product....
