Gear Poll

RE: Gear Poll
While it is just an arbitrary number, I am really not convinced that 0-60 times will improve when going from 3.55's to something lower. Here is my reasoning. 0-60 times has alot to do with how many shifts occur.
With the 3.55's, you shift twice to hit 60. With 4.10's and maybe the 3.73's , you have to shift three times to hit 60. Most new cars like the ZO6 and others atchieve very good 60' times by being able to hit 60 in second or even first gear.
Personally, my take is as follows. If you are going to the track, and really need the gain that the 4.10's offer. Those are the gears for you. On the street, I think 3.55's are about right. Maybe 3.73's would be interesting to try. But I see the mustang as a sports car, and chopping its legs off with 4.10's are not my ideal.
On the highway, etc. Where with the 3.55 gears I can downshift to third at 80mph and be right in the powerband. On the car with 4.10's I drove, I was stuck more toward the bottom of fourth at 80 as the lowest gear I could drop to.
3.31's are not even a good option in my mind for this car.

RE: Gear Poll
Go with the 4:10's you will not regret it......make sure you have a installer that knows what he is doing and comes recommended. Many complain of whine with 4:10's but that should not happen if installed properly.....also see if you can get a warranty that states if there is whine after the install they will redo it right for free!
