If I can take corners harder than a stock sti, and launch hard at the dragstrip with zero wheel hop, I am satisfied. It's a very very capable setup back there.

I look at Live axle vs IRS argument like I look at modular motor vs pushrod. The mod motor is much newer "better" and more capable technology, but the z06 still manages 505hp NA out of a 30yr old pushrod technology...

Unless you're seriously into road racing, (and even then) I don't think it makes much of a difference.

The live axle is cheaper too, the IRS would make the cost of the car more

Also, I think Mustangs are in general, more of a "straight line" performance car, so I think the live axle is better for that.

A live axle isnt a bad thing, just becuse its old dousnt mean it cant perform good.

Just ask chevy about pushrods, thats old also
and leaf sprins, LOL.

live axle FTW. i love the way the car plants under a launch, easy to drive, handles great. its a musclecar. live axle is the preferred setup.

The Falken Mustang is the Drift King champion, beating all comers with IRS.As apure test of *****-out handling control, it's hard to beat a Drift Car sailing around a fast corner, and if the king of them all has a solid axle, then 'nough said.

Im happy with the live axle, it's come a long way and only getting better with more r&d,but would have liked to see IRS as an option, not just ditched all together. Not every Mustang owner drag races.

I heard the new Camaro will have an IRS, How are they going to compete with the Mustang GT with a LS2 or LS7 425 HP engine 6 Speed Auto and Manual Trannysand Full IRS setup all on a state of the art frame for under 30K I just don't see it happening. Not that it matters but I was just wondering this while reading this thread.

I Think Ford should make a special Euro version for the rally racecrowd, you know thay guys who hate drag racing. [:@]I perferthe Live Axle... I have seen too many03- 04 Modded Cobras drop their IRS on the track..

Having never had a high horsepower / torque car with an IRA, driving my Mustang is another part of the retro experience. Reminds me of my '77 T/A. I can make that back end go where ever I want with thegas pedel. Yeah, it gives a lot of shake on bumpy roads when turning, but it is so much fun when you want to turn it sideways!!!

I Know what you mean, I took some friends out to lunch a while back and I punched it making a right turn and the car got a bit sideways and I was able to control this by "tapping the gas" pedal, we went down the roadfor a couple hundred feet then straightened out. it was an awsome feeling, my best friend was in the passanger seat said he had not felt that since the 70's when he had his 442.
