Default 07's slower than 06's

WellI was doing some research and found out the 07 GTsare slower (3-5 tenths of second, which is basically CAI & a tune) due to added weight from the GT500 but they handle better or so I read. Can any confirm the ride difference between the 06's and 07's?

They are heavier, so ... 0-60, trap times , and 1/4 mi ET's will be slower. I'm not sure that FORD would have added the upgraded suspension package into the GT's. So, I feel they won't handle any better, or worse, than anyother GT.
Now, if they handle better, as you read, but are slower, then it's gonna be a "wash"

What exact changes did they make to the GTs in '07 to accomodate the GT500 model? Can they be removed?

i thought i heard somewhere there was body / structural stiffening they did which would account for better handling but still using stock suspension parts

The front was stiffened, and heavier crossmembers addedto accept the 5.4 steel block in the GT500's.
The regular GT has the same parts. FORD decided to use the same chassis, and eliminate, dual production.

Ok, I can understand those parts, but is that enough added weight to make up to a 1/2 sec. difference in the quarter? Can't be more than like another 100lbs or something. Maybe I'm wrong.

*Edit- sorry if I seem a little obsessed with this, but if there's any truth in this, I'm going to be pissed. I would have purchased the '06 left over instead of the "heavier" '07. After doing some research too, Motortrend claims that the '06 and '07 GTs weigh the same, 3,483, while the new GT500 weighs 3,920 for the coupe, and over 4,000 for the vert. I'm sorry, but I don't see how Ford could get away with adding nearly 500lbs to a stock GT. That car would be a turd!

Care to tell us where you read about this? My 07 weighs 3436 lbs, stock, and it's not stripped. 3 to 5 tenths would be a lot of weight difference. More info please.

Did you get this weight from weighing the car yourself? I'm curious because everything I've read shows that the '05s (and I assume 06's) weigh 3560 - 3575. I can't see how your '07 is 100 lbs lighter than that. Of course, there will be some variances depending on how much gas is in the car and whether or not you have the Shaker 1k or not.
