My pony just arived :D i need some stereo help now
I just picked up my 07 pony today from the dealer, vista blue manual with leather seats & pony package, the car is ****ing awesome, never drove something so nice.
The only thing in the car I wanna mod is the stereo. I was going to put in a amplifier and subs, but I was wondering if there is a data cable in the backseat/trunk of the car like there is in the mach systems. Is there a datacable in the back of the car I can hook up the amp's RCAs to via a line out converter, or will I need to go into the back of the stock headunit (shaker 500) to install the amp?

There is no cable in the back. You have a couple of choices. You can splice into the speaker wire in the back for the feed or you can replace the shaker and get a better HU and then run the cable like normal. To my knowledge, unless things have change there is not an RCA output or anything with the shaker 500. I went all out with a avic-z1 then a JL 12" in the trunk. The nav system is great and sounds so much better than the stock HU.

2 questions though -
1) Would it be possible to splice into the back of the HU using a line out converter at all and not have to replace the HU?
2) Would splicing into the rear speakers prevent any signal going towards the speaker and/or sub?
Im contemplating the HU change however except that wouldnt happen for a month or two till I get the money. Right now Im planning on hooking up two rockford fosgate P3s 1000wp/500 RMS per sub.

raubt, do a search for avic-z1, there is a install thread with tons of good photos
deibow, i do not think you can splice at the back of the HU. I you do I think it would be the same as what you would be doing in the rear. There is no lose using a line converter in the rear. You are just splitting the signal that is going to the speaker to also go to your amp. Crutchfield has everything you need to know about doing this type of install.
