Okay at first all was working fine and then for some reason my stock shaker 500 head unit decides that it doesnt want to read CD-R's anymore. Aside from replacing the headunit or a beating with a bat, are there any solutions to this? oorrr am i just S.O.L.

well the skipper 500 well sucks. I would bring it back and have it replaced.

I don't get why everyone complains about the shaker 500, its been great for me, not one problem.

better keep knocking on wood man, my **** worked great up until about 3 days ago, out of no where this thing just starts hating me.

Mine works fine, too. Now, I've only had it since Nov. 11, but the only CDR's it's failed to read were a couple of old ones that had been banging around the car for a while. I had paper labels on some of my CDR disks, which the owner's guide says is a no-no, so I re-ripped all of my CD's, and it has read every one of them so far without fail. I'm happy with my Shaker 500. It doesn't have enough bass to make it feel like someone is kicking the back of the seat, but it does have enough that I'm pleased with the sound. And I have some trunk space, which you give up if you put in amps and subs.

Im burning all of my cds straight off my comp onto CDRs and take them straight to the car to test them, and i get the same result everytime. BAD DISC, then kindly ejects it for me. these are spanking new cds that im using so i doubt its a problem with the cds. I dont ****ing know.msadnbaksgbdlfnbsjgbsgbafn!

My Skipper just started spitting out CD's claiming "BAD DISK" also!!! WTF???
It worked fine since August when I bought the car but now it's almost spit every CD I have out! Who has the time to take thier car to ford so it can sit for a day or so while they replace anything??? I hate taking my car to the dealer for anything...I can deal with the skipper until I get something new I guess...

IMO...the sound quality sucks anyways...I don't know if it's the speakers or theunit but the quality is really horrible....

My 500 has worked fine so far, as well. I'm thinkin of replacing the head unit anyway though.

Mine is hit an miss, but more hit than miss...or I would be beating the crap out of it w/a bat...not that's going to fix it, but I would feel better.

Mine was mostly hit than miss until yesterday; then it decided to take a dump - "CD ERROR". Crap!
