i'd like to see that oil write up, i have used pennz dino oil 10w40 in every daily driver i have ever owned until the 06GT, i have been using 5w20 pennz full syn - and i use straight 40 pennz in my mustang II.

my dad drives a straight truck cross country, when he bought his isuzu in 93 they told him their diesels last about 300k and then then need overhauling. he uses pennz 15w40 (i think that was the weight) and got over 750k out of his and it ran great till the day it tossed a rod thru the side of the block going up some mountain in PA.

we used pennz 10w40 in our E-150 van / 300 I-6, loaded down - many times overloaded - hauling cargo cross country, and got 365k out of the first motor. when it blew up it was only a head gasket due to a blown radiator hose and we were stuck in traffic. second motor has 200k on it and still will take you anywhere you wanna drive it.

this is what i base my oil preferences off of - very high milage from everything we use it in.

The cheapest store brand oil is ok if you change it enough.

Wow! Point one is most disturbing. I took a look in my manual and it doesn't indicate (from what I could find) what grade. It simply says, "use Motorcraft SAE 5W-20 or an equivalent 5W-20 oil meeting Ford specification WSS-M2C930-A." My Royal Purple 5W-20 bottle says on the back "meets requirements defined by Ford Motor Company (WSS-M2C153-H) for 2001 or newer vehicles. So it seems in fact that Royal Purple does NOT meet the specifications!!!

Point two, although it may be accurate...as any accountant/auditor will tell you, there is no such thing as "independent" when the company paying you to do the "independent test" has one of the products being evaluated in the test.

Redline is the best 5w-20 out there. Then comes RP and amsoil. Mobil1 is the best main stream synthetic.

Most Mobil 1 5W-20 and 5W-30 oils are rated SM ... Just because Royal Purple is supposedly rated SL doesn't mean it's quality is bad - just not as good(?)

ORIGINAL: wingman75
We've been told that RP is the best. You just don't know what to believe. How about Mobile One, does it have some bad quality like RP?

Oils and Lubricants

Introducing Motorcraft® 5W-20, the motor oil that’s better for new Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles and less harmful to the environment. Designed, engineered and recommended by Ford Motor Company, it delivers performance comparable to our Motorcraft® full synthetic at both very high and very low operating temperatures and pollutes less.

Designed, engineered and recommended by Ford Motor Company[/b]

Motorcraft® 5W-20 motor oil dramatically outperforms and outprotects conventional motor oils. It meets the stringent WSS-M2C153-H Ford Motor Company specification to give the balance of engine durability and performance and to maximize fuel economy while reducing emissions. Due to its low volatility, low oil consumption is maintained. What this means for the environment is a motor oil that pollutes less.

I have been using redline for years in my cars and customers cars.

Redline oil or Ford for the mustang only. I have run ford semi-synthetic through the first couple oil changes and now am going to switch to redline or ford full synthetic.

6 Quarts and I have heard that the Pennzoil Fully Syn. is pretty decent. Not really sure about the comparison to others though.
