TCS really DOES work

RE: TCS really DOES work
Funny that you guys should mention this...
About a week ago, a winter storm came through San Diego and dumped some rain on the roads. The road had a good layer of water across it, and probably some of the surface oils had come up and slicked it up even more. Well, I'm making a left hand turn from a stop light to go up a hill, and all of a sudden the rear end of the car starts swinging around in a nice pendulum, no problem. TCS was on, and I think maybe it was because I'd given it a little more gas & let the clutch pop out quicker, because there was NO hesitation in having the rear end slide around. It was kinda cool, but kinda scary, too, because I thought I was going to bounce it hard into the curb that was there at the right side of my lane and throw my alignment out of whack...
I kinda just wonder if some of that is me just playing havoc on the TCS system with slipping the clutch a bit and goosing the throttle more than is intended...

Ya I can break loose the rear on dry pavement with TCS on but it feelsodd
with it off it does as it should
in fact there is a piece of road near work that it I floor it right after the last sprrd bump TCS flashes and the rear spins but if I have TCS off its a lot better (as in rear spining a lot more before moving)

Update. The plow came through late last night or real early this morning and put up a nice wall of snow (which is now ice) in front of my driveway. Net net. Stang still in the garage. TCS on hold. Jeep 4 wheelin' is not a bad second (but a distantsecond nonetheless).

RE: TCS really DOES work
My TCS was on this morning and I didn't even mean to spin the back out here in Jersey. I'm lucky that I was able to regain control to avoid an oncoming phone pole. My town never does a good job of plowing the streets. What pisses me off teh most is school was optional fo rme today and my mom said that I had school. She just happened to leave out the part that it was an optional day. I think she was trying to kill me sending me out to school in the Mustang. I'm nervous to drive home now based on the condition of the roads in my town. They never plowed my street and they only passed over each street once in the middle of the storm. If I knew where a nice open parking lot with no street lights or anything was, I would go and have some fun after school.

It doesn't work, it works when it wants to. You can whip the rear all over the place in a stick with it on, but when it wants to, it will cut the power. You can spin out your stang in dry conditions with not that much effort with it on. The button for it, should on the left side were the info/set up buttons are.

Have you guys ever driven a late 80s or early 90s Mustang in the snow or ice before? Those cars would go 10 feet left or right for ever foot they went forward or backward.
I was impressed with how well I got around in the ice the other day. Yeah, I had to go ~40 MPH instead of 70, but everyone on the road had to do that, save the "invincible fools."

I had a 89LX 5.0.. the car would bring the rear end around at the drop of spit on the ground... the 06 I have stays nicely in line w/ the TCS... on dry pavement anyway... only once in the rain.....ordinarllyshe doesnt go out in the rain and never ever in the snow....
