I'm one of the only people on this forum to have the Ford 93 octane tune (got it about 3 weeks ago as part of the FRPP), and even though it's been badmouthed by fans of Brenspeed as being "inferior" (though as far as I can tell NONE of them has actually had it on their own cars- so I don't know how anyone can make that claim without a DIRECT comparison) I'm absolutely delighted with it...!
They told me quite honestly at Ford Motorsports that their tune is admittedly slightly less "agressive" than others (like Brenspeed or Evolution), but I really don't mind having just a bit less "bang" if that means not risking any long-term damage and keeping my warranty intact.
Besides, it's the exact same tune that's on the Shelby GT-H, so it can't be THAT bad now, can it............?!
Are you really sure you have a 93 octane tune, or is it simply what your dealership told you? I just bought the same FRPP intake kit and the only tune you can get is for premium with 91 octane. It even comes with a little 91 octane sticker for your gas cap. There's no mention anywhere of a 93 tune.

I also really doubt that Ford would put a 93 octane tune on the Shelby GT, since parts of the country, like CA, can only get 91.

I think you may be right (at least partially), cause I have that sticker too but it reads "91 +", so I assume it's for 91 octane minumum but also good for 93 octane?
I think I'll call Rick and ask him about it.

UPDATE: I just got off the phone with Rick and he said that for best results the tune should use 93 octane- but it CAN also be used with 91 (minimum) because some states (like Calif.) don't have 93, and THAT'S why the sticker reads "91 +".
I also just called Ford Racing in Michigan (1-800 FORD 788), and they told me exactly the same thing about using the 93 octane.

has anyone compared a 91 tune to a 93? how much difference is there? if not much i would feel more comfortable running 93 gas with a 91 tune just to be on the safe side of things. also are extra tranny coolers worth it when running a modified tune? upgraded fluid even? like b&m synthetic trick shift???
Ive read on here that the difference betweena 91 and 93 tune issmall timing advance. Also, Iveread the horsepower numbers between the two aren't drastic.... Thats the extent of my knowledge on that.

If I remember correctly, auto's come with a tranny cooler from the factory. Can someone help verify this?

Well I'm gonna get knocked for this but I run the 93 brenspeed tune in the winter and the 91 brenspeed tune in the summer. Reason is that the 93 octane tune pings in the summer and the 91 brenspeed tune doesn't. Either way I buy the 93 octane gas. I also like using the X-1R fuel cleaners and octane boosters. They are both suppose to carry liquid nitrous and they only cost 2.00 dollars a bottle. Sometime I might use two for a tankful.
