Right now I have 1 and I lost my spare key. That's why I want another spare key. I can buy an extra remote and blank key in ebay and have the locksmiths duplicate it and take it the dealer for programming. The dealer will charge me $300 for the spare key and remote. I would like to go the cheaper route.

If you wanna save the bucks drive down to my work and I'll program it for free. Might even have a blank key and remote. Not sure if this under cost the gas though.

I went to the dealership to get a spare key, cost me $60. kinda sucks but you need a spare. then ordered an extra fob online for $25, programming it is easy, so for both, only $85.

First what is FOB, and the $60, is it the key and programming?

Geez...kinda makes me want to go buy a blank and make a third copy on the cheap, just so I don't have to deal with this BS...when I lose one set.

Then again, if someone swips your spare key, wouldn't you want to do something like change the ID on the car and then re-program your other key(s) so that the one that was swiped is no longer usable in your car? Can this even be done without replacing physical components (ignition, door locks, etc)?

Hmmm...

The fob is the remote you use to unlock your car, and yeah, the $60 was for the key and programming.
