Should i do it????
My friend recently, well alittle over a year ago, owned two different Vettes. His first was a C6 Orange 6 Speed. I must say it was pretty sweet. Beat the hell outta my car, and looked amazing. The thing was fast, sexy, pretty, damn near perfect. But, ask how the telephone poll felt when he hydroplaned into it.......
I drove his Orange one a lot, and it drove really nice. In the rain though, it sucked. It would sorta slide around sooo easily, it was actually pretty scary.
He then got a new one about two weeks later. It was a Black C6, accept this time it was an automatic. I personally liked the auto better than the manual, but thats me. It did have the triptonic dilly thingy so you could still shift yourself, which was neat. Well, I think we ended up putting right at 2000 miles on it, and he traded it in. He got an 06 Dodge Dually......stupid didnt even get a 4x4......he regrets it too....
I'm not sure about snow, but in the rain it was horrible. It's a great car, and good dd to an extent. Hell, it coulda been the tires...I just love my stang, and no that little by little its gettin to where I want it.
What kinda price you getting it for? Transmission? Just curious...

The thing is I've always been a huge fan of the mustang. I grew up in France and it was a symbol of American muscle cars. I didn't like the c5 much but the c6 caught my eye and after having been in one i must admit i was impressed. I appreicate and value you guys' advice because you are also mustang fans and can relate to this. Thanks

I drove the mustang this year in the snow and it wasn't so bad. That's why i'm asking about whether the vette n the snow for a few eeks a year makes sense. I don't have a beater and would stick to one car. I realize the vette isn't realistic in the snow. Then again everyone was saying that about the mustang and it turned out alright.

Honestly, did you ever see someone driving a corvette after a snow storm? People here say that in rain it would barely get any traction, just imagine in snow!?!?! And don't let people here who say thata corvette can be driven in snowfool you, because chances are there don't have real winters where they live: I'm from montreal and I know what winter can really be... trust me... if you don't have a winter beater, forget the corvette.
However, maybe you could buy a winter beater and purchase the corvette too for summer or nice dry winter days where there is no snow on the roads. I know this is what I would do if I really wanted a corvette.

As far as getting a new vette its your choice. We own a c5 that is not very good in the snow here in St. Louis, but it does have dry season tires. Good room as far as storage and great performance and looks. Like someone said above go on a vette forum and see what they have to say. Good luck
Jersey eh -- If it were me I would stay with my stang... It's better in the snow... I have kids (need the rear seat)... and I have close or more then 10,000 into my stang so I'd rather juststay with it... JMO

From personal experience having owned three vette's '63 roadster, '64 fastback, and an '85 t-top. These cars are really not good for a daily driver just getting in and out of it gets old real fast, parking has to be done with extreme care because mrs. crotchface will back her mini-van into the parking spot until she hears "crunch" ground clearance is non existant. Wet weather driving don't even ask. That being said it's a great weekend car. Your choice.
Thanks for all the advice. Well it definitely won't be a weekend car. I can only afford one car at a time and that would be it. I was seduced by the car's amazing power and it got me thinking about getting one. The stang is definitely more practical. I was just wondering what you guys would do in this situation.
