If I am not mistaken, the problems are usually limited to cars with Shaker Audio and/or the Factory alarm system?

If mine goes two weeks, it dies. My 2004 caddy, with more electronics than the mustang (but no alarm system) starts fine after a month or more. Mustang dies after 2 weeks. Ford says everything tests fine so they don't know what to fix.

A battery tender has solved my problem for now.

Frustrating, but not the end of the world for me since it sits in the garage. I do ride with jumper cables in the trunk, though.

Not sure which one, but I would recommend a battery tender if it sits for more than one week w/o driving.
What about the cars sitting in the dealerships for weeks on end?

That is a problem with the modern car. It's not just a clock anymore. You got memory settings in the audio, clock, message center, computer, alarm, plus that stupid driving memory control unit that records your driving habits. All these need power to store info. The battery tender is a good idea. Nothing worse than your car not starting. One reason I have AAA.

That is the line that Ford seems to be giving me. But....it is inaccurate since I have4 modern cars that sit for weeks on end, friends also, and I have a "modern" boat with an ECU and fancy radio and it sits for months with no problem.

Only the mustang dies after 2 measly weeks.

(AAA is OK as long as you can wait for them.Tow trucks chasing hard cold cash can sometimes move a little faster. Hopefully the mustang won't make me put this to the test.)

I haven't had any problems with a dead battery "yet" (knocking on wood) and I have had the car sit in the driveway for a week without being driven. It cranks right up! I do think if you have the Shaker radio system in your car, DO turn it off before you turn the key off. Make sure there are no CDs left in the changer too.

As far as car sitting at dealers? You might notice the portable car starter sitting in a corner, I have. Ya I agree they should start. I've had old cars sit for a winter and fire right up.

yep...andnumerous prospective purchasers have come on this board and commented that they thought it was strange that the salesman had to jumpstart the cars prior to a test drive [8D]

I guess I missed that since my stang came right off the delivery truck.

My battery died at only the second attempt to start the car since delivered. Car sat in garage for 8 days, Battery dead. It's at the dealer right now. Waiting on final report. My wife's Infinity M45 can sit for a week or more outside and start right up.

Curious, do you turn the radio off before you turn the car off? Do you have CDs still in the player before you turn it off?
