Default Problem filling up

Has anyone else had a problem when trying to put gas in your car? This morning was about the 4th time that I've had trouble with thenozel clicking off as soon as I start pump. I tried to move it in/out and up/down and even tried to barely squeeze the handle. Once every 4 or 5 tries it will pump for a few minutes but only if i keep the trigger just under halfway. This is extremely frustrating and even moreso on a cold windy morning.

I've got the same problem, do a search and you'll find plenty of posts on this. One thing I read and seems to work is to hold the handle sideways. It's a pain having to stand out there holding it, but it's worked for me everytime.

It's a problem that only happens at SHELL ...I don't know why but for ME it only happens at Shell...it has something to do with the nozzles sensors being too sensitive at some pumps...Holding it sideways or upside down works every time...you may also get this fixed under warranty if you have the time to drop your car off...I hate myford dealership so I just flip the handle upside down when it happens...

Good luck!

Ya it happens to me too with certain pumps. The vapor catcher on the nozzle is a pain. I found you have to push the nozzle straight and hard against the filler tube and hold it there. Any movement up or down and clicks off. Some other gas stations nozzles aren't so touchy.

Its a common problem. Fords suggestion to me was use a different pump or turn the fuel nozzle upside down. Here is the TSB on it: Hope this works!!

Good Luck

My car was recently at the dealer for this TSB, it's a real PITA. Turning the nozzle upside down DOES correct the issue, but who wants to do that? If your car is still under warranty I suggest going and getting it taken care of.

the only problem i've ever had is it over filling just a tad. Find a different gas station, it's their pumps.

Who doesn't stand out there and hold the handle? Must be you insane northerners!

I don't stand and hold the handle (I live in Minnesota). I set it and leave it. Haven't had any problems filling so far.
