That's pure insanity!!!!!!

I live in Oregon we are not allowed to fill our own cars. So I sit in the car and listen to the stereo and Goober has to deal with the pump.

This is one TSB that I wouldn't be so quick to jump on the TSB bandwagon with. Every trip to the dealer is a potentially new scratch.

I've had this problem quite frequently. I just hold the nozzle upside down. Now I see so many have this problem. I'll be stopping at the dealer to have it fixed now that I know. Thanks.

Yesterday I checked my car. It was made on MAR 2005. That means it is qualified to have a new gas tank replacement. It will shut off if it is at 6 o'clock position, but, it is always OK to fill if I put the nozzle in 3 o'clock position . I don't know what to do? Take it to the dealer to have a new gas tank or live with it by using 3 o'clock position to fill gas.

Its a common problem. Fords suggestion to me was use a different pump or turn the fuel nozzle upside down. Here is the TSB on it: Hope this works!!

Good Luck

How do you get the nozzle to the 3 o'clock position without hitting your gas door?
So far I have only filled up twice since I bought the car. First time no problem. Second time I had issues. I had to stop....pull up to another pump and try again. A guy behind me in a Corvette was just staring at me....like WTH!

No! At 3 o'clock position, the pump does not hit the gas door. The gas door is at the opposite side. Try yourself to see what happens.

Thanks for the advice. I don't know if I want to bother taking it to the dealer for something that only happens 4 times in six months, but its good to know in case the problem gets worse. Holding it sideways once in a while won't be too bad.

Whats up with the no pumping yourself in Oregon and New Jersey??? Thats just nuts! Can you go inside and grab a big glup or do you have to hit a drive thru for that? Nothing like having big brother tell you how to do everything.

OK, I filled up last night for the 3rd time since I bought the car. This is what my experiences have been so far;

1st time....purchased from Costco.....no problems
2nd time.....purchased from Sam's Club.....had problems.
3rd time.....purchased from Costco again with no problems.

I honestly think it depends on where you purchase gas from. Needless to say, I will be purchasing gas from Costco from now on! They are waaaay cheaper than Sam's Club anyway!
