Default Intercooled or Non-Intercooled....

Hello guys.

Im in a bit of a dilemma, so the next month I will finally have gathered up the cash to buy a supercharger, and I have been researching for quite a while and my money will go towards a Whipple.

I am aiming to stay on the safe side, no more than 420rwhp, MAYBE 440rwhp, but I think its pushing it.

As I was browsing lethalperformance.com page, there are the Whipple units,

Black H.O Intercooled Unit 10 - 12 PSI (475rwhp)
http://www.lethalperformance.com/pag...kit-black.html

Black NON-Intercooled unit6 PSI(405rwhp)
http://www.lethalperformance.com/pag...kit-black.html

Which one of this kits should I get considering all of the pro's and con's?
Is the non intercooled really more propense to detonation? Or should I just save up 1k more cash and buy the intercooled one?

thanks for answers!

Well you really can't go wrong with 475rwhp,and if you was wanting to be on the safe side the intercooled system can be timed down a little,But comparing the two on detonation a non-intercooled at 6psi,and a cooled at 12psi is about equal heat wise, but I'm just sheding some thought here!People with both these systems will post with more detail I'm sure, but if it was me,and hopefully soon I would go with the intercooled system.

The intercooler function is to cool the air charge so the stock engine can take more boost with no detonation, also cooler air = more HP.
Whipple makes SC for Ford so both should be safe as long as you stick to the tune Ford provides, itis upto you and how much money you want to spend and how much power you want.
Non IC = simpler installation = less power
The IC version is the opposite plus you have room for more boost and HPif you want to switch pulley/tune in the future.
For what is worth I just order mine from whipple a couple days ago, the polished version and 10PSI intercooled.

475rwhp seems too much for me... a lil risky... dont want to be poopin rods out of the block.

In case I got the non intercooled, It states there on lethalperformance's page that the unit is easy upgradable. Well has anyone done this?

intercooled and if you dont want 475.. you should be able to get a different pully to make less boost and the tune can be adjusted to keep u @ 450 ish

dude there are 3 options. the non-intercooled(6lbs boost- 405rwhp) $4493, the intercooled (8lbs boost-445rwhp)$4825 , and the H.O system- also intercooled(10-12lbs boost-475rwhp)$6117. get the midrange one.

I just ordered from them. I am not what I would even consider to be a supercharger expert - so take my comments with a grain of salt.
(sorry, that was my disclosure statement for all of the haters out there that disapprove of comments by individuals of lesser knowledge. LMAO j/k ) we all start somewhere....

I would definitely go with the Intercooled HO. You have the option of pulley sizes bro -- 6, 8, 10, and 12 lb pulleys. I got the intercooled HO w/10lb on order. Yes, 475 hp is a lot. But you dont have 475 hp instantly, right. So just stay off ofthepedala little and dont drag race it at every red light you stop at.
