Default Wheel Size

I want my '05 GT to look meaner, and get rid of some of the fender well space. I have stock 17" tires/wheels. Should I go 18, 19, or 20?
Wouldn't 20" increase the fender well space and make it look more 'custom' rather than 'muscular'?

I think with a smaller diameter rim you just get larger sidewalls on your tires. And I don't say that like it's a bad thing. I think the bigger sidewall is more retro. I say this after I bought my 18" rims.

I am not a fan of 20's on the Mustang. Too me that real short sidewall on that large of a rim on a Mustang looks kinda "hoody".

I prefer 18's or maybe a 19....., but that's just me

These are my 18's.

How are the roads where you live? If you have real nice pavement 20" would be ok, I myself live in Chicago and most of the streets I drive on are horrible so I went with an 18" wheel. I love the look of the beefy side wall also and you can't pull that look off on a 20" wheel(unless you get a liftkit). If you go with 18's and lower the car it will give you a nice mean look with no hugegap in the fenderwell.

We need to see if just the bigger wheels will fill that fist-sized gap (especially in the rear) or if lowering is required for all wheel sizes. After all most 20" wheels won't have tires with the 17"ers profile of 55.

Your car would look great if you'd get rid of all that wheel well space. Put drop springs on it and it'll give it a muscle look that it currently lacks.
