Racing Stripe Removal

RE: Racing Stripe Removal
I just took my stripes off on Sunday afternoon! Love it now
Well first I washed the car...then we used a blow dryer (heat gun is too strong) at first to loosen up the vinyl at the front end. It was about a 75 degree sunny day so really, we didn't need the dryer. I would recommend not using it anyways because the parts that we used the dryer on, the glue from the vinyl got left behind and we had to rewash the car to get it off. But we peeled it off real slow and it ended up taking 15 minutes to do both sides.
My car is an 2005 and it looks fine. No differences in color or paint at all

Old thread, I know. Looking for feed back on anyone else who have removed their racing stripes. I bought my car used and at one point in time it has racing stripes on it. I was not aware of it until my paint started to crack and peel right where the stripes were. My rrof got so bad you could actually see the stripes marks like they were still on my car. Anyone else have this problem? I had my roof repainted and you cans still see where the stripes were in the right light. The body shop is going to redo the roof and take it down to bare metal this time instead of the primer. I have black 05 GT.
