X2

I would say to check out the auto parts stores and look for some type of neon or strobes with the music controlled transformers. They can get kinda pricy pretty fast if you buy a bunch of them.

Does it really matter why they want to do this or who they got the idea from? What matters is that it would make them happy on THEIR car. They came on the forum to ask for some help and most of the replies so far are useless...

+1 Too much judgement, not enough help

As far as doing this sort of thing, in addition to the people who actually did provide decent helpful responses, you may want to consider getting rid of the cigarette lighter adapters and just tapping into a 12V power wire, preferably one that's live only when the car is on. These things usually all just run 12V DC anyway, so you can just snip off the adapter bit and wire it directly into your live wrie (and wire up a common ground where ever is convenient). This way it will free up your cig lighter for other gadgets (maybe even ones that more people will approve of on here, who knows [:'(]).

Good luck...make it your own; you paid/are paying for it.
