Shaker 500 Question
I recently installed Sirius Sattelite radio in my '05, and wonder if the Shaker 500 system has any provisions to hard wire the Sat. radio directly to the stock system via a female jack in the back.
I have heard that sometimes car radios have this feature to allow the use of I-Pods and such.

I looked into this also. Unfortunatley, you can't just plug it in. There was an electronics company that made some sort of adapter but it was about 100.00 asI recall. Then there was a second adapter wire needed for the IPOD as well. Not worth it IMO. It was easier to just load MP3 files onto 6 cd's & pop them in. I still can get about 400-500 songs in there that way. If I really wanted IPOD in the car I'd put the 100 bucks toward a new (&better) radio.
I have both XM and an iPod hooked up in my 06. I used the PIE (http://www.pie.net/store/index.cfm?a...&ItemID=14) adapter that activates the AUX input. I then bought a XM hardwire power adapter off of eBay and spliced it into a switched 12v line in the center console. For the iPod I bought an iPod car adapter from SiK (http://www.sik.com/imp.php) and plugged the cig lighter power adapter into the center console cig socket and routed the wires under the center console cover. Right now I have both of the audio sources connected to the PIE with a simple splitter so I have to turn one off to play the other, but I'll probably rig up some sort of a switch in the future. As it is right now it's not really that difficult to turn the XM off when I use the iPod or vice versa.
I also bought a cool mount from a company called ProClip (http://www.proclipusa.com/). I bought the Belkin version (and a belkin car adapter) first, but the sound quality out of the Belkin unit was horrible, so I switched to the SiK Imp. The Belkin unit runs both the iPod power and the line-out signal in the same wire bundle and I got nothing but feedback through the audio line. I had to do a little dremel magic on the ProClip housing so the SiK adapter would fit, but it works just fine. Right now I couldn't be happier as I just get into the car and slide the ipod into the cradle mount and it charges and plays without fooling around with wires.
