Default muffler delete??

hey guys, i just posted a thread earlier about the FRPP GTA exhaust, and was thinking when lookin under my car, what if i just did a muffler delete..

how easy is it to take hte mufflers off and run with straight pipes.. mainly how easy is it to take off the mufflers.. and how lond would it take..

and is it good for the engine to run liek this.. im thinking about just trying it out, and if i like it, then i get pipes and tips and finish it off..

any suggestions, ideas, experience.. anything..

also if u know how loud it would be compared to stock.

thanks guys

it would only take about 20 minutes or less to take the mufflers off. ive done it before and i thought it sounded horrible. plus the pipes bang around when you do this. it was also a little quieter than with my motoblue rs mufflers on. i would just invest in motoblue rs mufflers or slp loudmouths.

I've heard it sounds like crap. just pick up a set of SLP loudmouths.

i just hated the sound. it was real gurgly sounding. it sounded too much like the dodge people in their trucks that cut their muffler off. with the mufflers it has a more refined sound. the sound change is drastic with the mufflers off. but dont take my opinion for it, it would only take about 20-30 minutes to get them off if its your first time. you should just try it out and see if You like it.

loudmouths are just a straight pipe design, so if you have the money i would go with those. if not motoblue rs mufflers are a slp knockoff muffler and are only about half the price

I never heard the new GTs with the mufflers cut off. I could imagine it doesn't sound good though.

With our V6s though, it sounds good. But you have so many options with a V8, why not find a good muffler?!

its just the money.. i know i can get a decent axle back for around 300.. but i dont have the money right now, and im tryin to save money and not spend it.. (goin to college).. so im tryin to find a alternative for a better sounding exhaust for cheaper..

i might just do it and see what it sounds like..

is it ok to leave the pipes open like that.. no muffler or extension with hangers and tips on em?.. will the move aroudn too much?...

i can imagine iwoudl sound kina like cut outs.. but i dunno..

i will look into these blue rs things.. deffinately like the price.. any pics installed.. or videos or anything..

I removed my mufflers about a year ago. I had a local muffler shop fab up some bolt in pipes with 3.5" x 16" long stainless slash cut tips. It is really loud but not in a bad way IMOP. I have had a LOT of people at the drag strip coment on the way it sounds. At highway speed the sound almost disappears, under load it sounds evil. There is a lot of in-cabin noise at low RPM and undera lot of loadbut it is never so bad thatI can't hear the radio at reasonable levels. Just removing the mufflers and not putting on tail pipes was not a good sound at all. A lot of popping and gurggling when letting off.
