Hmmm...interesting. I installed the plenum cover on my 06 GT and no rub whatsoever....
Are the bolts for your scoopgoing through the liner? Thats the only differencr I see with cars that rub and ones that don't.
Sorry, just saw the post. No, the bolts for my scoop are covered up by the liner and still no rub. As a matter of fact, there is at least a 3/4" or more gap between my cover and the liner. Enough for me to consider placing a STB.Mike (mlcrycc) and I have been discussing this issue over the PMs. He just installed the STB over the plenum cover w/o problemsother than, in his case, theliner is touching the STB,butnot a big deal.
yeah mine rubbed! but i drilled 2 new holes in the hood and add 2 more hood push pins, no rubbing now!!!!
Hey this worked for me. I added an OEM Ford Plemum cover to my '05 a few months ago. It was not showing any signes of rubbing, but I did notice that the liner was showing a few signs. The hood liner had a lot of slack in the center so I did like goodwrench78 and rjg226 suggested. I went to Advance auto and pick up the OEM push pins that match the rest, drilled a hole in the front support bracetoward the front of the hood in the center, drilled the second onein the rear brace toward the rear of the hood in the center, added the two pins, and no more sag or rubbing. If you did not know these weren't factory you would never be able to tell any different. Now I should not have to worry about the cover showing wear from the liner. If anyone needs pics I can send them but it is pretty easy mod to keep the cover in new shape if you have this problem. Thanks guys for your suggestion!
