I lived in the musclecar days and if you still think you need the extra power under your right foot, get the GT. I have the V6 and like it except for the bad thunking noise in the front end. It's horrible and will drive you nuts. So if you decide on either, get an 08, they should have it fixed by then, maybe. Believe me I understand about money, I would have gotten the GT if I could swing it but "NOT". I ordered a V6 with 3 options for $21,795, most GT's are $29,000 on the lots.

Go for the GT, i started withan 06 Pony Package for fuel milage and insurance, i finally stepped up to a GT and it is the same for both issues, gas and insurance. For shear fun factor go with the GT.

Just my opinion here but WHY would you even concider buying a MUSTANG with a V6 rather than V8 heck if money is the issue buy slightly used, or save up. This is a mustang we are talking about here. Some people might not say so but when I pull up next to a 6 banger camaro i just point and laugh. Please do youself a favor and by the GT. Just my opinion no one get mad.

I had only owned classic stangs before this one. My wife and I always wanted a GT, but usually ended up getting a Jeep, or a Buick. This time, (call it mid life crisis) we said screw it and went for the shebang. Well, not the big shebang. We didn't come home with a Shelby, but we did get the GT.

I chose the v6.

For me, it was about what I could get with what I was willing to spend. Within my price range I could either have a fully loaded v6, the way I wanted it, ORI could have a used base-model v8. This was an easy choice. I did not want a used Muscle car and I wanted to have the funds available to personalizemy car. The very concept of the mustang is bang for your buck. The v8 does well; the v6 is even moreso. Just ask car and driver: http://www.caranddriver.com/features...han-20000.html

They are both fastand they both can be made to be faster. It's only a matter of $$.

I spent the last hour trying to say the exact same thing. Thank you! [8D]

My V6 is a '10', as far as I'm concerned, and I'm not trading it for a GT500 until the prices come down[sm=icon_rofl.gif]

I wanted a new 2005 for years. Back in 2003 when I first saw the concept. Now obviously, when 2005 rolled around and the car was released...there were no USED S197s. So the only choice was new. And the only choices were V6 or GT. At that time, there was a difference in price. Most dealers really weren't willing to bargain either. Personally, I'm not one to wait around. I didn't want to wait 2 or 3 years to afford a GT (used or new). At the time, I was 19 anyways. Supporting myself and buying my own car, I was not lucky enough to be able to use mommy and/or daddy's money either. Buying a loaded V6 for a decent, affordable price made sense to me. I thought "Hey, it still looks like a Stang". Plus, everyone can admit that the new V6s are impressive. I also thought, this will do for now. Where I'm at in life, I don't need to be broke and struggling just because of a car. Plus, I thought...I have a new Mustang at 19 years old. Most of my friends are still driving hand-me-down Hondas, junky Saturns, etc. I'm lucky IMO. I still want a GT, but for now this is a good car that doesn't leave my bank account empty. No matter what anyone else says, I still have a Mustang. So does everyone else here with a V6. Ford made it, Ford named it...so what more is there to say?
