We can group the intakes on the market into two categories, those that require a tune, and those that do not..

The intakes that require a tune have a much larger MAF housing than the stock airbox, and thus are capable of flowing a lot more air. These intakes will actually result in power gains.

The intakes that do not require a tune have a MAF housing that is the same size as your stock airbox, they do not flow enough air to result in significant power gains.
