Default factory option for "body side molding"

I noticed there is a factory option for "body side molding" (code 961) for ~$90... is this the fake side scoops or some sort of anti-door-ding bar?

if you compare the stock GT and V6, you'll notice theGT has body color molding under the doors, and on the V6 it is non-existant

I actually don't think that's what he is referring to - those are the rocker panels, not body side molding. I've seen a few stangs with the bsm - it's a raised strip of molding about halfway up the door. Personally,I didn't like how it looked.

Exactly it is a piece of molding halfway up the door between the wheels & destroys the lines of the car, it is the same color as the car.

I think I've seen some with that strip too, I didn't think much of it. I've only seen it on V6's though, I'm sure it would be available on any model though.

The body side molding is used for rental cars. Now, sometimes big orders will cause a few of the cars to leak into local dealers but that is still the original intent for the moldings. And this is why you only see them on the V6, stangdude81 (GT-H being the only exception). I only know what they are, not exactly sure why they are put on the car and it is only for the Mustang rentals, I haven't noticed them on any other car in the Ford line. My only guess is to help prevent door dings on the actual doors?
