Default Will my wheels fit an '05

Hey guys I'm in the process of buying a '05 GT & was wondering if my '02's 17 x 10.5 wheels mounted on 315/35 17 " tires will fit the '05 Mustang? I've had people tell me yes & no, so I'm somewhat confused. Will they?

I am running 245 45 17's on mine and they stick out a little. The offset is nice and gives it more of a muscular stance but your are alot wider than that

What is the offset on your wheels? If it is +45-50mm offset then it would be very close.-Andrew

I dont think they will. Others have posted this before and it is not the fact of whether the tire and wheel will fit it has to do with the offset. I am no expert but I remember that the previous bodystyles will not work with the new body style. Hopefully someone else will chime in on this and give a much better and possibly more accurate response. Just call up discount tire they will be able to tell you.....or email tire rack and see what they say....just a suggestion J

From my understanding, the offsets between the 99-04's and 05+ are different and the wheels wont fit. But if "rmays06" has 245/45/17's on his 06, than I might put my 01 GT bullitts on my 05 this weekend just to see what they look like.

Thanks for the input...guess the only way to find out is take one off and take it to the dealer & see if it fits or not. Is this a good deal? An '05 GT with 18,641 miles for $22,213. I just hate the stock wheels tho. Discount tire said they'd fit, just stick past the fender well a bit. Guess I'll call tire rack or something. Once again thanks for the input.

Go to the 4.6L section and ask what the stock offset is for those wheels. Our offset is +45mm, If yours are +45mm or less(numerically), they will fit.

EDIT: OOPS, I see your wheels are 10.5" wide. OK, if the offset of your wheels are +35mm or less, they will fit. IF you don't know the offset then measure the backspacing with a tape measure, and compare to stock 05+ wheels.

I had a kid try to buy my '05 wheels for his '03 and they fit on the lugs but sat in too far. I would assume the older wheels would sit out too far on the 05+ cars, but I am far from an expert.

I had a long talk with the Rep. from Halibrand about this. The 05+ cars are a 45mm off set while the earlier stangs are 30mm. The 30mm offset wil stick out @ 1/2 inch farther on the 05+ cars. If your car has not been lowered to far you can get away with it. I'm putting on a set of Halibrand CobraIII wheels this week with 255/45/ZR18 tires. This tire is about a 1/2 shorter overall than my original 17 inch with the PZero Neros. From what I can tell by slapping the wheel on the car and taking a few checks, should be just fine. I'll post pics when completed.

I don't think a lot of people understand the concept of what offset is. If you have an 8" wide wheel and a 10" wide wheel and the both have the same offset then the 10" wheel will stick out exactly 1" more. You need to know what the width of the wheel is before you can say if that particular offset will or will not work. If the offset isn't correct then you wouldn't even be able to fit a 7" wide wheel in the wheelwell. This link might help with explaining offset better than I can http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Offset_%28wheel%29. And here's an offset calculator http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp
