Problem going into drive
Last couple of days, when I start the car and push the breaks in to put it in drive (auto) it seems to be sticking. I reapply the breaks and it usually works this time. Its almost like the breaks aren't engaged when it happens. Anyone esle have this problem?
GOT IT FIXED thank you to all that responded...it helped!

That sound kinda weird. I'm assuming you already had the brakes applied then reapplied them ,but if they weren't then make sure the brake is pressed before shifting into drive. Other than that I can't help. -Andrew
It feels weird too, It like the break isn't in all the way. Then it works!!! I know what the dealer is going to say...can't find anything! Just wondered if anyone else had this.
I haven't run over any curbs or no mods CPU wise recently....I dunno!

ON one of our 06 Verts something like this happened. It was hard to move th shifterthough the gears, felt odd getting it out of parkintermitintly.FinallyI found I hadn't gotten it all the way into park once (last straw!) I took it to the stealership and after chipping my plastic bezel around the shifter they found I needed a new tansmission linkage cable. Ordered the part all was perfect and coveredunder warrenty! (except the damn chip!)

There is an actuator that allows the transmission to shift from park to drive, it could be either that or a bad switch or the linkage cable, either way, take it to the dealer, they should fix it no problem.
I had something similar happen a few weeks ago. Got in and tried to put in drive and the shift would not unlockor move. I took my foot on and off the brake several times before it would release. I am now wondering if maybe Ipushed the release button on the trans.and pulled back before pushing the brake causingthe shift lock to hang-up until I released all pressure from brake and the trans. release button. It has only happened the one time.
This happens to my auto sometimes. I have to let my foot of the brakes and then reapply them and it usually works. Isn't there a switch that keeps you from shifting out of Park if you're not braking?
I see there's no switch to keep you from starting my auto without my foot on the brake...

Got it fixed. The service guy told me it was the tanny linkage. He said he hadn't seen it on the mustang before but the Newer expolores. I have billet shifter bezels on it and he asked if I had an after market shifter......(on an auto) I know they were trying to not warrenty it but what kind of service/mechanic asks if a auto shifter is aftermarket....makes you wonder.
Thanks all for the help!!
