kenne bell or whipple?
As with most of you I did a lot of research before deciding on the Whipple HO. I wanted a great street car, good drag car, respectable track car ...just want to have it all ...
Whipple and tune developed with the help of Ford Racing
twin screw linear torque means no need to really push to motor up to rev limit (centri is most powerful at the top end)
future hp increase is easy with a built up bottom end
stock HO at the top end of stock motor hp and torque
beautiful polished finish available
smooth install with complete kit (it's in dere)
haven't heard anyone blow there motor with a stock whipple and tune
cost is high
tires are wearing quicker for some reason
It's a whole new car with the Whipple on.

Why is Whipple better than KB??? I thought KB was the best?
Also, there is not much mention of the Saleen. How does the Saleen compare? Frankly, I love the fact that the Saleen bolts right on and CAI's like the C&L Racer attach right to it. This means the CAI is not a wasted purchase like it would be with a Whipple or KB.
Is the power out put similar with these three?
Which one sounds the best under throttle?
Can you easily change the boost with the Saleen because it has no external pully?

Turbo Pros:
a. Cooler (turbo is not doing much when not in boost
b. better MPG (no parasitic draw when not in use)
c. Very high HP potential (U can really turn up the boost on these!)
d. Quiet, even in boost they are very quite
e. Driveability is good. They do have some of the on-off like a Centi S/C but can be controlled easier with boost controllers.
f. Not as hard on engine, driveline components.

A. turbo runs the HOTTEST of all FI
B. Has nothing to do with MPG regardless of the fact it uses no HP to spin because the miniscual difference is made up in HP when it hits.
C. This is true
D. They are not quiet in boost at all. Different sound - yes, quiet - no
E. Driveability is the absolute HARDEST on a turbo to tune and when you get in the 13+ psi range - it is practically impossible and no one has gotten any of the turbo kits streetable after 14 psi yet.
F. The turbo is the absolute HARDEST on the engine of all FI kits. When a turbo hits, it hits HARD. It is the closest to Nitrous as all the FI available. The way they hit is the reason they are a PIA to tune at any PSI on an auto. They way they spike makes it very difficult for the CPU to adjust in time. This is why barely no one is running any more psi than what the kits come with.
If you want a fast track car - then turbo is the way to go hands down. If you want fast & street - you can't have both with the current kits.

A. The KB makes the most power of the TwiSaleen , and then the KB. For example after a pass of a KB car against a whipple car with the same boost, the KB would burn your hand if you touched it and you could put your hand on the whipple. IMO - this means the whipple runs more efficent. (I have done what I just described and I could put my hand on the whipple after a pass)
C. The current limits of how far you could go with their current best kits is #1 - KB can go the farthest HP wise #2 - Whipple #3 Saleen
Any one is a great choice for 99% of you and will do more than enough. The Saleen doesn't run into problems unitl the 15 psi range and most you will never go that far anyway so the Saleen is not a bad bet at all.
Bottom line - if I was looking for potential to go big with a built bottom end in the future - I would get a KB
If I planned on staying on the stock motor I would get the Whipple. Even if I planned on a new motor, I would get the whipple if I was mainly street driving and planned to stay under 15 psi. If I wanted more than that - I would get the KB.
This is my opinion but as I said, the Saleen is not a bad choice at all. If you want TS - then any of the 3 will work for most needs.
