Default New CAI Ideal !!

I was contemplating the whole CAI setup and we all know that they do bring in more air into the engine, but we all also know that it really isn't "cold air" per say. Cooler maybe, cold not. Well I was thinking why the heck don't they have a small air duck running from your a/c. I think the theory is sound. You cold have the computer monitor the temp and if it's above a certain temp it cold close it off from the system.

Any thoughts ??

Because it puts a load on the engine to remove heat from the airstreem. The more air you want to cool, the more power you will be taking from the engine. With effeciency losses in teh A/C compressor, you will be using more power than you make probably.

I would think that running in that much cool air would help more than hurt the engine load. Crap I think these 4.6's run better witha load myself. How much does the compressor take away anyways??

Nice try! But, it would never work.

Why? A little thing called "conservation of energy".

Yup, the cold air would just be making up for the a/c running... Well, it wouldnt even be able to make up for it

But now, if the a/c pump is powered by an electic motor...then what?

The extra electric draw against the alternator to "keep up" would probably negate it also.

We do, it is just that the draw from the fan is fairly small and our cars have so much power to spare .
