Default hood scoop question

i am thinking about installing either the mustang or roush hood scoop. i like the roush a little better but here is my question. has anyone installed the roush scoop and then bolted the hood insulation pad up with it, usingthe bolts that protrude thru the hood from the scoop?the stock mustang scoop bolts on like that and helps hold the hood insulation pad more secure. the reason i ask is that the hood pad sags a little and is lightly rubbing on the07 plenum cover that i have covering that ugly intake manifold. i know other people on here have discussed having the same problem. if it was attached to the scoop bolts it would not sag but dont know if anyone has tried that with the roush scoop.

Hmmm...if the studs are long enough..you should be able to do it. But if they are long it would show under the hood and won't it rub the plenum cover?

hey tpony. i dont think they will rub. i know the stock mustang scoop bolts to the hood pad and they dont rub. they are just long enough to bolt the pad to and they clear the plenum cover. i do know from what i have read on this forum, that everyone that has installed the roush scoop has removed the hood pad first and when they are done bolting the scoop on they then reinstalled it. but i have never heard if anyone has attached the pad to the bolts. maybe someone has done this. just have not heard if they do so.

Interesting....I think it would work, because at least on my 05, the hood blanket actually recesses up into the area where the hood scoop goes. That being said, at least with the Roush, you would need to use some add on washers ahead of the nut. They supply you with those kinda cheesy, thin type nuts, which I am sure would pull through the hood blanket fairly easily......

Maybe but then again the scoop wouldn't be tighted down good either. My strut tower brace holds the hood blanket up from hitting my plenum cover.
