What is the best way to close the front hood?

Just drop it from about 2 feet. Or if you want to slam it down then slam it, it makes no difference at all.

to about 12" and then push down on the
hood as it's falling.

you'll develope a feel for it, after a few tries

Drop it from 2 feet. It will not hurt it, it may however make you fell bad for the car, don't worry, its okay

I just let it sit and then firmly push it down until it locks. I do this with all the cars i've owned.
