It is, but right in the catalog it says it can be machined for wet sump.
110lbs for the block only. Add heads from the Ford GT which are $1500 ea (less cams).and you've got $5500 invested so far. Not cheap......but definitely a lot lighter than the iron block 5.4 from the GT500.

I thought the aluminum 5.4 was a dry sump oiling system, ala GT??

220lbs more.....if you are talking about the iron block. Ford racing sells the aluminum 5.4 for $2500 (block only).

doesnt it (the 5.4) weigh like 200+ more pounds too?

Yikes. Get a supercharger.
Its sort of funny, people seem to forget we already have a 4.6L V8 in this car... And they start blowing money on a 5.4L. Oh wow, .8L.
This is the sort of thing an Accord or Scion owner should do. They'll see a huge difference.
We frickin already have 4.6Ls...

RE: 5.4L Swap
4.6Ls which are limited to 800 hp fully forged.
If you plan to go past that limit, you need a new block, so thats why you would start with a larger one from the beginning instead of building up the 4.6 and having to switch later.

800HP??? Thats a whole lot of HP!
Seriously, you have to be trying out for Nascar if you plan to get past that...

I am not thinking about spending $5500 on the aluminum 5.4L and DOHC heads.......but others might if they road race the car and weight is an issue but money isn't.
I've already been openwith the forum members that my plan is a 514 crate engine swap. In a couple of years my warranty will be gone and the stang will no longer serve as my DD.Once it's positioned as a weekend toy I'll be going old school BB. I don't road race so I'm not worried about ruining the balance of the car. I can't wait to have 650hp n/a. Granted I'll get like 8mpg......but it will be worth it.

RE: 5.4L Swap
Exactly. Like I said, the larger displacement motors produce incredible amounts of Pure Horsepower. It is well documented, the 5.4L modular motor can produce well over 1200 HP! So if that's what you want, the larger displacement motors can easily produce it with a lot less effort. Now, the only problem after you have it, is getting it to the ground! C'mon guys, that kind of power will justsmoke racing slicks, you aint never gonna get street tires that will fit inside your fenders to hook up with any thing over 600 HP.
