Underbody coating
Hello...I bought a 2005 GT and I notice that the underbody has no coating. How should the Mustang be protrected during the wet months without rusting? Almost every car that I have seen is underbody coated!

I restore vintage Porsches, we use a rubberized aerosol product from Wurth products for protecting the underbody. I can get you a product number if you want it. It is also light weight and makes a great sound deadner.
I didnt know it when I bought my Mustang (March 07) but when I later saw it up on the lift I noticed that it already had surface rust on the axle and drivetrain. I asked the dealer about it but they says it isnt anything to worry about, just a little surface rust and these Ford parts are made to last. The car was built in January, and I imagine it sat on the back lot for a month or so in the DC snow.
Is this rust anything I should worry about?

Depends on climate and chemicals whicver city/state uses during inclement wether. I'd prefer the salt and crap they use on the roads hits a rubber coating than my car. Shouldnt cost that much to have it done by an auto detailer, dont go to the dealer though they do a sh*ty job and charge WAY TOO MUCH for it.
Ok heres the info on the product we use. Its called "Wurth Sabesto" High Build Underseal. Its available thru Wurth Products, 1-800-wurth-usa(987-8487). Its an aerosol aplication, drys quickly and looks great. Any overspray is cleaned up with 3m Adhesive remover very easily. Ive looked at mine and figure 2 cans can cover the unprotected areas. Ive allready cleaned the surface rust off the rear axle tubes and housing and painted them semi-flat black, under coating next week. Hope this helps, let me know.
