RE: First time at the track...I need new tires
well my suggestion would be to get a set of track only rims/tires... some 15"s with 255/50 or so.... get some slicks with fat sidewall... you should hook up well

He is s/c'd. Btw powers im in the SAME boat as you. Running right around 8.15-8.30 at immokali. Im putting 245 mickey thompsons on my stock 17's to take with me to the track. I had nitto 555r's but burnt them up in about 2 months since this is my dd. I put 555's on these and they last great but dont hook for ****.

I love my 555r's I have staggered fitment 255/30545/18's. I've only had them for about 3 weeks. I haven't noticed any excessive wear and tear on them. I know they hook extremely well!! I can only get them to chirp in second now, before I was burning all of 1st and 2nd, part way through 3rd. It felt like I was on glass. I must admit the 555r's are about 10 pounds heavier each than the stock 235's. So I essentially added 20 pounds rotational mass which equates to 80 pounds in compartment(not good). Each 1 pound of rotating massis equalto 4lbs of dead weight inside of the car.

They hooked GREAT while they lasted. But then again they were a 305 tire on the back, thats pretty damn wide. On the stocks the only 555r that will fit i believe is a 245 so im not too sure. Im 99% sure they will be perfectly fine tho, i am doing the same thing in the near future. Not quite sure tho mickeys or nittos, whatever i find for the better price i guess.

Howd the 555r hook up for you? im thinkgin of just getting a set for the stock 17s to put on when i go to the track.

Yeh the only reason i had nittos on my wheels now if because M/T doesnt make any d/rs in 18's (yet). Chris has a pair of M/T sitting in his showroom, but they are 275 series, and im not too sure if they will fit my stock 17X8.5...if they do ill get those.

Stay away from Nitto's. Just go with the M/T there 10x better. I have had experience with both and would never go with anything else other than M/T for a D/R or Slick

yeah I got to get 17 rims for some M/T, the only thing is I am going to be putting on 15" brake system on my car next week, I was told that the 15" will work for some 17"rims. Nothing is ever easy
