got into a fender bender also.

NEW fender: 145.00 SHIPPED.

great pricing IMO.
Of course, that's not with paint...right? Mind asking what it took to get it painted? Did you install yourself?

Agree. No dealer. If bumper is just scratched (even thouh it had a dent) it is an easy repair. Fender can be repaired, talk to a few shops, might not have to repaint the entire fender thus avoiding inevitable color match issues with driver door. Do your research, check with clean quality shops doing high end cars.

The car is a month old. Do you really think I'm going to have color match issues?

I bought painted window vents and the match was flawless.

BTW, thanks for all the help!

Sorry to hear about your loss. I'm an insurance adjuster and estimate damaged cars all day long. Based on what I can see in your photos I would probably estimate to repair that fender for about 3.0 hours of repair. Now if the shop doesn't feel confident that they can restore those style lines without the use of body filler; the panel would be recommended for replacement. The bumper cover would require replacement only if the plastic is distorted. If you have a wrinkle or tiny stress cracks, you're looking at a new cover for sure. Stress cracks never go away and will grow in time of they are simply painted over.

Make sure that the hood is estimated to be blended during the repair operation of the fender. There is enough metal-to-metal space to warrant a blend. If the fender is to be replaced, you can add the door for a blend as well. Believe it or not, that little fender bender can easily skyrocket to over $1,000. I realize that a family member caused that damage, but you may want to consider involving an insurance company if the relative doesn't live with you and if he/she doesn't want to pony up the dough.

Let me know if you have any questions. Good luck.

The fender will only be partially painted if it can be repaired, but the entire panel will receive clear coat. That means a new GT emblem (if equipped). The issue with painting isn't the color match as much as it is matching the application of the base coat. You have a metallic finish. If the metallic finish isn't properly applied you could get tiger striping (metallic looks streaked on). New or used, all base/clear coat finishes require blending within the panel or into the closest adjacent panel. A good rule of thumb here is that you need 2-3 feet in a panel to do a blend within that panel. Keep in mind that this is after they complete the repair and apply primer. A small repair can easily chew up 30% of the panel after primer is applied.

That's a lot of good information. I really appreciate it.

I'll be calling my dealership's onsite collision center on Monday to schedule an appointment (with your info in my back pocket). I'll update this thread when I find out more.

Glad I could help out. By the way, if an insurance company does get involved insist on new OEM parts for replacement components. You have a current year model and unless you have more than 12-15,000 miles, you should have no problem getting what you need. Feel free to reply to this thread when your estimate is completed and I can probably give you an idea on how things look.

This was mine, but it definitely didn't happen in the driveway. All told, it was $2300 plus (his insurance paid for it all), and that included new fender, new bumper, headlight housing needed to be replaced, a bracket needed to be unbent or replaced, and my rim was replaced as well. That also included feathering of the paint and the shop did a great job!

I kept the fender though, not sure if I should hang it on my garage wall or just cut the GT logo off.

I would take it to a good body shop/ custom body shop etc. I'd stay away from the dealer IMO. I would replace the fender as the stamped crease from the factory on the fender would require alot of work to recreate and how would the dealer do it? The dealer would take the easy way out IMO and unless you know the guy and trust him thango with the dealer if not I say no. See if you can buy Mellowyellow06 parts he is offering and that will save big time in the end. Oh now is the time to mod if you are interested in other body work and see if home owners insurance will cover the cost. JMO J
