I would screw it to the hood if you are goint to do that. It will have alot more force from the wind going in it and I am not sure hoe double sided tape would hold up to that.
I agree that there are probably no real gains from this unless you route the incoming air, but aren't the scoops already bolted anyway? I thought that's why mine has the holes in the hood liner to accomodate the scoop if I had one.

The factory scoop is bolted to the hood. I think he was saying to do this to bring cool air into the engine bay, not necessarily the intake. However, if it rained then I would imagine that the rain wouldnt mix so well with a hot engine block.

Now I'm not planning on doing this, but I was just wondering if it were possible to turn the factory hood scoop into a functional one by dremeling out the honeycomb (so its not solid), cutting out the bottom, and then running a vent down to the intake.

It just kinda bothers me that the scoop's not actually an intake.
Does anyone actually read the threads anymore? I mentioned that you would need to run a duct from the scoop to the air intake. I also said I wasn't actually plannig on doing it, just that I had the idea if anyone wanted to try.

I realize there'd probably no real performace gains. Only reason I had the idea was because everytime someone asks if its functional, I have to say no

For those that would like a functional, factory looking ram air scoop, http://alliance247.com/product.php?p...b8301a73b4bbbb. This is the functional Roadster hood.

i also thought about this .. but what if we didnt even have the tube to the intake, and just left it like a ram air.. but would deiffinately have to secure the scoop better..

any one wiht ideas.. post.. this could be a good mod..
Or you could call it "Ram Water" when it rains?
