Headlight painting
Hello all, Well my car was in a small accident and one of the headlights was broken. I was not driving the car at the time. Long Story. The car is at the autobody shop getting repaired but they can't figure out how to paint the inside of the headlight. See picture below.Does anyone know how to correctly paint the inside of the headlight? Are there lights that can be assembled after the light is painted. The shop doesn't want to break the light to fix it. Any help or advice you have would be great.

RE: Headlight painting
You would have to take the headlight apart. Use an Oven to heat up the glue pry apart. Paint and then reseal with silicon adhesive. It's done all the time when people retrofit HID's into there cars. Check out hidplanet.com forum, they have a lot of information on taking the headlight assemblies apart.

RE: Headlight painting
I i have heard that is the way to do it but I have actually tried it myself with no results......here is what i did...
-preheat the over to 250 defrees F
-get like a cookie sheet and out a wet piece of cardboard on it then set the headlightontop of that
-when the over was ready, i put it in there
-then i waited not 5, not 10, but i waited 15 minutes
-went to pull it out, had to use a glove cause it was scorching hot, then took the glove off so I could have the dexterity to disassemble the light, absolutely not luck at all, there was no sign at all that the light or the seal was loosened even a little bit
i guess im doing it all wrong

RE: Headlight painting
alot of people initially did this but had problems with leaks , so people have pretty much stayed away from it. I have been looking at salvage yards for an old set to test it on. no luck yet

RE: Headlight painting
I have a set of lights that are new from when I did the conversion. This way you can do the work w/out taking apart your car becausew thbumper has to come off to get to the light. They are 2 months old and garaged. I am easy with the price.
