HURST STS INSTALL HELP!!
I would go to the hardware store and buy new bolts to replace the ****ty allen head bolts they send you to connect the chrome handle to the shifter. I got bolts that where a 1 and 1/4 inch long so I could use lock washers and a backing nut so they won't back loose, that way you have a 9/16 bolt that you can torque the living crap out of instead of supplied allen head bolts that come loose every so often that you really can't get that tight. That's my biggest advise and you won't have any worry's
You'll love it and the install is way easier than you would imagine....it's that easy!

Put a longer bolt with a lock washer and not a single problem since. I can't see loc-tite really being a cure for vibrations, most cases are the shift handle bolts justcan't betightend enough. But that's just how I cured my problem.
05 Ricky-
Locktite is made to be a cure for vibrations.... what were you using? I used blue (242) and have not had an issue in 6months. You can also use red (forgot the actual number) for more hardcore situations (which this doesn't qualify as.) I've been impressed lots of times by the power of loctite, hahaha
Anyhow on install just do it, it is really straight foward, takes 20minutes.

Im not trying to beat this down too hard but there is a link I saw some time back before I was planning to get the Hurst. So needless to say I did not bookmark it and now I need it. I think it was modular something or another. Any help would be appreciated.
I used Taco Bill's procedure for the MGW to put my Hurst in. Same steps, different shifter

Easy as your sister.
Easy as your sister.

Installation is easy. As soon as you start doing what the orinal link to your question showed you, you'll see, it's easy. ONE thing I will warn you about......#3 below.....IF you use the ratcheting wrench, DO NOT BACK THE BOLT OUT TOO FAR to be able to get the wrench off, unless you have the reversable wrenches!!!!! you will know EXACTLY what I mean when you start to remove that bolt inside the tranny hump.....I did that, then had to lower the transmission to get the stupid wrench off....

3 things (that are probably mentioned elsewhere)
1. If you remove the whole floor console and not just the trim you will have a bit more room and won't worry about scratching anything. (just unclick the power point(s) first).
2. To put the Hurst shifter in from the top, drop the whole thing front first till the whole shifter is wayin there (don't let go!) When half your forearm is in there, then you can position it as you pull your arm back out again.
3. That gear wrench (ratcheting box wrench) is your best friend.
Have fun.
