Well found new transmission 4r70w rated for 1000 hp. Problem is longer than stock. their goes the carbon fiber drive shaft (2000 mile on it)
the transmission comes with new drive shaft , ecm for transmission, new tourqe converter their goes the new tci 3500 stall (1000 miles)
great artical in Modified Mustang problem issmall input and 2-3 shift why i twisted the input shaft.

Just read that article in Modified Mustang, didn't know the 5R55S is based on the French designed C3 automatic trans of the mid 70s. Although this now makes sense to me since the 5R55S is an Explorer transmission and Explorers come standard with the 4.0L V-6(which is a Cologne built engine). I had a 1976 Ford(some say Mercury) Capri II and it had the 2.8L V-6(predecessor to the 4.0L) and it came equipped with a C3 automatic, since the 2.8L and 4.0L share bell-housing patterns, only made sense for Fordto modify an existing transmission to cope with the 4.0L Explorer's needs.
5 shortly spaced gears help move a 4500lb SUV with a smallish enginequicker than making the engine more "peaky" by making more hp. Although Level 10 makes upgrades to the 5R55S to cope with high levels of hp/torque. That extra gear is nice for economy and acceleration.
