My setup is pretty loud I couldn't imagine it with out the cats. I imagine no cats and loudmouths would be head splitting.

Borla IMO and other people's opinion is usually the best sounding exhaust, the reason most people don't do it is because of cost. Some of it seems unneccessary, but when you hear it, its worth it. Aren't the mufflers upwards of 400-500$?

The Mufflers including X Pipe back piping is $700 and the Longtube/ O/R/X Pipe combo is $1250. So its gonna be like $2000. But if it performs good and sounds good, its worth it. Besides, what the hell else am I gonna do with all this money when I get back home from this deployment.

I'm in the process of doing about what you originally suggested except I'm putting high flow cats on also. If you go SLP all the way with OR X, you're looking at straight pipes from the motor to the bumper. Mine's going to be a DD but I don't care about how loud it is. You could even keep the stock mufflers and do the rest to see how loud that is. Definately go with the LT headers though. If you're going to swap them, might as well get the most HP you can out of it. Any of the major brands is a good choice though.
