You should have just bought a GT. Buying a V6 to save money on insurance, then swapping in a V8 is a stupid idea. You can do alot to that V6 for the price of that motor alone that will make your V6 fast.

I agree that buying a sixer new just to do an engine swap makes no sense. But sixers don't hold their value as good as a GT....so picking up a used high-miles sixer in the secondary market might not be a bad investment of money. What's a high-miles 2005 sixer going for right now.....$12-14K? Add $12K to that and you are still less than a new GT.

I would't advise an engine swap car as a DD.....but if this is just a weekend warrior than the old 302/351W engines are a nice foundation for a serious muscle car.

FYI - Nationwide Insurance does not consider the Mustang GTa "performance car". They did not consider the 350Z one either. Hence, lower insurance rates.

Emissions is only an issue in a emissions testing state. Mounting that engine is the easy part.....very easy. If you go with a carb then getting it to run correctly will be very easy. The bigger issues will be the trans and rearend.......neither are strong enough for that engine swap. Replace the trans with a Tremec and find a rearend from a GT.....both items are not going to break the bank. You will most likely need a custom driveshaft as well. As someone said above, you'll spend another $7-8K on topof the engine purchase, IF you are not doing the labor yourself. If youare doing the wrenching and welding.....then this swap is not going to run more than 12K tops. $8K for the engine, $2K for the trans, $1K for the rearend, $1K for thecustom driveshaft. Electrical won't cost you anything and your existing fuel system should be enough......BAPis not terribly expensive.

I thinkonce the warranties run out on the S197's we're going to see a lot more of theseswaps taking place with the sixers. You can build a 351W much cheaper than $8K....so if $12K sounds too high you can cut a fewthou off that estimate by finding a 351W in a scrap yard and having it machined. Build the engine yourself if you can......it's not that difficult.
i found a site that have mustang take off parts...and if that engine to big what will be a good size, and if i cant just get the stang to reach about 160mph im good i heard that some stock v6's can get up to about 130-140

Go here:
https://mustangforums.com/forumid_242/tt.htm

There are a few people here that run 11-12s with the 6. It's failrly easy to get them in the low 14s.

Just a 6 with 4.10s, LSD, a good tune/CAI combo and a single axleback is a pretty fast car.. for cheap.

Why are you concerned with going 160MPH, I sure as hell hope you don't run anywhere near my streets?
If youdrop that in and not tell your insurance company, it is over for you;I doubt they would evencover anything if you get into a wreck.
This doesn't sound like a very smart plan.

You don't have funds to buy a GT over a Pony but you are talkin about mods and swappin engines?
Something here just doesnt add up.

It would be alot cheaper to just build up a V6. Turbo it.

Instead of going that route, get the 5.4 that's in the GT500.....you'd probably end up with less money in it in the long run, and most things would bolt into easier.

Do some basic bolt-ons to your V6, you'd be surprised how much faster it will make it.
