Engine swap
Simple solution here: save your money and get the Stang you want. Why the hurry? If you rush, you'll only "settle," and you'll regret settling the minute you drive the car you "settled for" off the lot.
Also, as others have said, if cash flow is a problem then why are you pricing out over $20K in mods? And, more importantly, why are you concerned with going over 160 MPH in a new daily driver? Do you live overseas? Bragging rights? Frankly, if you're in the US, focus on getting the power from the 0 - 100 range where you will be doing most of your driving.

Insurance cost between the two can only be about $1,500 a year if you are under 21. If that! By the time you hit 25, it will drop a lot more. The cost diff. is prob a neg figure. Buy theGT and Mod that! It will be cheaper.Be ready to drive now, pass emissions and resell much better.

You should have just bought a GT. Buying a V6 to save money on insurance, then swapping in a V8 is a stupid idea. You can do alot to that V6 for the price of that motor alone that will make your V6 fast.
