if you feel like wasting your money go ahead. i see you havent factored in labor cost for the swap. just buy the gt and be done with it. much cheaper in the long run.
so your going to buy a v6 for insurance reasons and then drop a v8 in it and not tell your insurance company? i bet that will go over well when you get in a wreck.

I agree with the other guys, it is not a good idea unless you are rich and use your mustang for racing only. Expense-wise, besides the insurance, emissions etc, an engine like that, either carburated or fuel injected willdrink fuel as if it was free.
Emissions is only an issue in a emissions testing state. Mounting that engine is the easy part.....very easy. If you go with a carb then getting it to run correctly will be very easy. The bigger issues will be the trans and rearend.......neither are strong enough for that engine swap. Replace the trans with a Tremec and find a rearend from a GT.....both items are not going to break the bank. You will most likely need a custom driveshaft as well. As someone said above, you'll spend another $7-8K on topof the engine purchase, IF you are not doing the labor yourself. If youare doing the wrenching and welding.....then this swap is not going to run more than 12K tops. $8K for the engine, $2K for the trans, $1K for the rearend, $1K for thecustom driveshaft. Electrical won't cost you anything and your existing fuel system should be enough......BAPis not terribly expensive.
I thinkonce the warranties run out on the S197's we're going to see a lot more of theseswaps taking place with the sixers. You can build a 351W much cheaper than $8K....so if $12K sounds too high you can cut a fewthou off that estimate by finding a 351W in a scrap yard and having it machined. Build the engine yourself if you can......it's not that difficult.
