Default FLOWMASTER

I have had flowmaster axle backs on my GT for about 6 months. I noticed that the actual muffler part is rusting around the edges. The polished tip is still fine but the muffler looks like ****. Is that normal for flowmasters? I just don’t want the rust to get so bad that it creates some type of hole in my exhaust. Any thoughts on the matter would help. Thanks

Very poor quality on the finish of the mufflers. Mine are starting to show a little rust like that also. I'm probably going to just get some flat black high temp paint and go over them a couple times to help it out. You would think flowmaster would put a better finish on a muffler that is hanging in the back of a nice car in plain view. God I can't wait to get rid of these things.

I've read a lot of posts re: these flo's falling apart inside, causing a rattling sound. Well I paid $240 for mine (with my employee discount) so I guess you get what you pay for. Maybe next time I'll get some LMs to go with my x-pipe...now THAT'S obnoxious baby...

Yes, this is normal for flowmasters. I put two coats of paint on mine before bolting them up earlier this year...no problems yet. You may want to consider doing the same if you don't like the direction their heading. There are better mufflers on the market, but I guess I was willing to sacrifies quality for what I feel is the best sound. I also got them for $260 shipped, so that was a big factor.
