Looking for FRPPs? I got my FRPPs from summitracing.com because they offerred the install kit in FRPP also, unlike american muscle.com who only offerred amotive install kit (I doubt it makes a damn of a difference but I'm neurotic like that)...ordered Monday a.m., ground-shipped and will arrive tomorrow (Wed.)...p.s. don't forget to get an inner pinion and race from a parts store or the ford dealer, and also (oh boy here we go) stay away from the FRPP gears that end in "M" because they are made by motive for ford, and there is some controversy re: whining, and that ford cuts their gears a certain way for the new 8.8 that gives a better install (okay I'm putting on my helmet now!)...anyway hopeI could help...but if you want motives, yeah american muscle.com or brenspeed has 'em...

Just for the record, ford racing doesn't make any gears, they may not make anything at all for all I know.

Go 3.90 if you use freeways or take trips a few times a year.

4.10 will give you too much acceleration at the cost of top speed.

I cant believe Im even responding to this when the guy should've searched...

Also, Motive is a company. Ford Racing is another company. They both make great gears. Some people say Motives can whine, but many experts ive read from say its all in the install. Ford Racing does not make 3.90, only Motive and another smaller company.

The end.

Top end speed.....you can still 130+ so who gives a **** if it takes a few MPH off.....if that is factored in when doing a gear swap then you have problems or you have specific goals and probably dont need to be asking us.

I think the top speed with4.10s should satisfy you, unless you're heading to the salt flats for a record attempt. And I don't think there is any such thing as too much acceleration!

^^^ +1...there are some things in life that you can never have too much of, and acceleration is up there on the list, along with money and sex with hot chicks lol...

I'm going to try and bury the speedo with my 4.10's once I find a suitable stretch of road. I'm pretty sure I can still hit 145+, i'll just be in 5th after about 124 or so. 5th pulls very good with 4.10's, no one seems to get that. 5th was a dog with the 3.55's, atleast at 2500rpms it was. Someone in the street/strip forum tried to tell me his friend topped out at 130 with 4.10s in an s197, but i'm pretty sure he had an auto and probably didn't have OD on.

OK I gotta ask why did you actually respond? Do you actually try to learn about the car your driving or do you just type stuff because its a forum? Why on earth would you want a 3.90 gear ratio, especially if your that concerned about top end speed and again especially in an automatic where the gearing is different than a manual anyways. Did you actually know that? Why do you even own a mustang? Your clearly not interested in it except when people bag on you for your negative posts about it. I may not be an expert but I atleast make an effort to learn from other people's experience before typing incomplete or just erronious information. By all means pleasego bother a corvette forum or something.....

I have the auto and plan on going with 3.73 that is plenty of gear and will still keep your mileage about the same. As for which gear brand to buy there are more out there than just FRRP and Motive. Richmond makes a great gear also.
