Fuel Pump TSB info please
I took my car in for warranty work today. It's only happend 1/2 dozen times in the last year. After an extended drive on the Highway it hesitates almost like a couple of hiccups when I jump on it after exiting. The Stealership says they could not duplicate the problem (43 miles later)so they will not replace the fuel pump unless the technician observes the hesitation. What are the odds of it happening while at the stealership...I can understand their point of view about relacing parts if they don't accually see the problem. I can't afford to take countless days off work and bringing the car in until it acts up again. For those who had this issue resolved did the stealership take your word for it or did your car act up while there?
I changed it myself under warranty
.
Talk to the srvice manager about your problem. Its a known concern but say it is something else acting up they don't want it coming back as a recheck. But talk with them and they should do it. They'll call hotline and be told to right down "unable to verify concern at this time, replaced pump as per tsb" If not bring it down to me and I'll do it. Might be drive for you though.

My car did this a half dozen times between Western New York and Chicago, then Chicago to central Wisconsin, then back to Western New York.. Upon my return from this trip, I stopped in to the local stealership. I told them there was a TSB for fuel pump replacement, the service writer said he'd check on it. He called me the following day, said he was having trouble locating it, I quick looked it up on here and gave him the number, and he said ok, great, no problem, bring it in Saturday morning. They got it done in about an hour and a half.
Be sure to try and take the tank in as empty as possible, it makes the work quicker. I always wait for my ride, none of this drop it off for a day ****..

My service writer told me that they could not replace it unless they actually could verify the hesitation as per Ford's orders. I guess I'll take it in again and throw the "I'll sue your a$$" if my car hesitates and I'm involved in an accident card...Like I told the service writer, Do you think I'd bring my car in for a fuel pump problem if there wasn't an issue, hell I don't even wantyou guy'swashing my car after the service.
Mine actually die in the middle of the darn freeway. Had to get it towed to dealer. Never scared more then trying to get out of a car in the middle of a freeway. Then I had to put the stock tune back in before the tow truck got there. Tech found that the fuse blown and the pump was bad. But what is weird this happen week after the gas tank replacement. At the sametime I had them look at the weird vibration I was getting at 30mph. After they replaced the fuel pump they found the drive shaft bad and order a replacement. First one was wrong one so had to wait a couple days alteast they gave me a free rental! Also this dealer is pretty cool they washed and cleaned my car. They also did not try and sell me oil change or other crap.
They should not have to drive it to try and reproduce the problem. I'd be pretty pi$$ed is they put 43 miles on my car trying to find the problem when it will only happen on much longer drives. I took mine to the dealership with the TSB printout and they fixed it with no problems/questions. They should replace it for you.
Print this out http://bradbarnett.net/mustangs/gala...hesonaccel.pdfand take it in there and wave it around. The TSB states all they have to do is rule out other issues, not VERIFY that one.
WTF do they care? It's a WARRANTY issue and Ford will reimburse them.
If they continue to give you **** about it, I'd find a different stealership. Oh, and I'd call Ford and complain about that one..
