Default no mid-pipe?

Could I just totally dismiss the idea of a h/x pipe and just run pipes from long tube headers through hi-flow cats and then into a catback exhaust? Would there be any power gain or sound gain?

It is my understanding that it is detrimental to run without a crossover pipe.

you can do it, but your engine will run alot rougher. the crossover pipes equalize the back pressure so that both sides of the engine are running more consistantly. you cna do it but you won't like it
