Whatever you want to do, Im just suggesting keeping the same overall diameter close to the same, and close to stock. Also best fitment on a 10" wheel.

Does anyone know the stock overall diameter I am running right now with my 16" rims and stock tires?

And if I do go with the 245/40/18's up front, will there be a big gap between the rubber and the wheel well up front?

Just so you know what the numbers on the tire size mean:

245/40/18. 245 is the width of the tire in millimeters. 40 a percent. The sidewall is 40 percent of the width. So it's 98 Millimeters of sidewall.(254 x .40) 18 is the wheel rim size (diameter).

Also I have a friend who has Sumitomos on his Mustang. He HATES them. He cannot wait until they can be replaced. He said they do not have good traction.

Based on everyones suggestions about my tires, Ive come up with this for sizes and tires (I apologize for not using apostrophes or dashes;evertime I type one, this comes up: è). Let me know what you think based on this:

285-40-18 Eagle F1 Supercar (27 inch diameter) rears
255-45-18 Eagle F1 Supercar (27.1 inch diameter) fronts

I will have to spend a little more money but I have a paintball gun here collecting dust that could be sold to compensate me.

Is there any problem with running a 285 (no rubbing or spacing issues (I cant use question marks either). Would the extra diameter compared to the Sumitomos I was looking at before jack my car up higher or simply fill the wheel well better. Thanks guys for all the help so far.

Now you're talking.
See if you can get the new Eagle F1 all season tho, Or if not, Eagle F1 GS D3.
Both I think are better and will last a little longer than the Supercars

Kwiatkowski,

Seeing how you appear to actually finaly want to take some advice..... (sorry but most of your post were set on the other size.....)

YES the 285x40x18 rearand the 255x45x18 frontwill fit your car PERFECTLY!! The stagger (between front and rear) is very nice looking.

Here is a pic of 2 of our cars with 255 front and 285 rear. Note I actually have lower profile than the tire you are looking at because we are sporting 20's not 18 but the over all size is VERY close to these that you are looking at. Our tires are 255x35x20 front and 285x30x20 (I'm NOT trying to 'sale' anyone on the 20's here) I'm just showing you the 255 vs 285 tread width.

Thanks for the post and pics. The reason why I was so set on that sizing was because now that I am going with the new sizing and the new tires, its costing me an extra couple hundred bucks and money is tight with me. But id rather get something that I am going to like, rather than to get something I'm going to hate. So I said eff it. Nice cars by the way. The black and the red looks killer.
