Squeaking Brakes on GT ?
Any of you S197 owners have trouble with brake noise and squeak? I have some persistent brake noise coming from the passenger side whenI apply the brakes in the 5 to 40 mph range. I'vedone a visual check and the brakes appear to bein perfect shape, with plenty of pad material left and no damage or modification of any sort.My car has 26,000 milesat this point.
Any similar experiences and fixes? Thanks.

RE: Squeaking Brakes on GT ?
What about this detail . . . the problem only seemed to show up after my car was at the dealer for a week for the front end "thunking" problem and upper strut bearing repair. Could the technician have done something that caused perfectly good brakes to begin squeaking?

He could have gotten grease or oil on the rotor or the pads. That could create a brake noise. Pull the wheel off then give the pad and rotor a good cleaning with some Brakleen. On a Cold Pad and Rotor by the way. Then go and do 4-5 Steady stops from 35MPH to zero then go home and park and let the brake cool down. See if that solves the issue.

RE: Squeaking Brakes on GT ?
Mine started squeeking at abiut 20K miles. They squeekfor only the first couple times I use them when I first drive the car each day. I thought I accumulated brake dust so I took off the wheels and hit them with the compressor and then brake cleaner. They were quiet for about a week and then squeek again. I have plenty of pads left. I don't brake hard so I doubt they're glazed. Car is washed weekly. I just turn up the music and move on. So long as I have plenty of pad and no gouging on the rotors I'm not worried. Wife's Malibu just started doing it too. Same exact thing. Go figure.
